Data visualization and its necessity:

Data visualization is a representation of data and information in graphical or pictorial form with the help of graphs, charts, or maps. Visualization of data is the art of representing information in such a simplified and creative manner that one can understand everything they need to know in one glance. We’re hardwired to engage with stories as humans. Data visualizations tell a story with a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end.

Let’s talk about how you could create a visualization in Canva using graphs and charts

1) Choose a template for a graph or diagram

Open canva.com/graphs on Google then click on the start designing tab once the webpage opens. Choose the template or layout you desire to work with then click on the element’s icon on the sidebar to add charts to your presentation. You will be able to see all kinds of charts mentioned above. Each chart is animated and well-designed on its own. Choose the one required for your data visualization and add your data.

2) Add your information or data

Since these charts are well animated on their own so all you will need to do is edit the data. Charts are presented with sample data and you can edit them and change them with your desirable information. You can also clear the data and start by scratch by clicking on the clear the data tab.

If you have your data stored somewhere else let’s say Google sheet, you can copy that data from there and go back to Canva on the chart edit area where there is written “paste data from spreadsheet” and then you will be able to represent that data with the help of charts. You can also connect Google sheets with Canva for more convenience.

3) Use icons and pictures

To make your presentation more creative and attractive you can add different elements such as icons and pictures. You can also add infographics. Canva consists of five interesting elements that help you build infographics in a very creative way i.e progress bar, progress ring, radial progress, progress dial, and pictogram these will be able to help you represent the percentage of your data

4) Colors, fonts, backgrounds, and more may all be changed.

You can change colors, resize the charts, change fonts, can change the transparency of the chart. If you want to change the style of the chart let’s say you want to change from bar to row chart, you can do it too by clicking on the chart bar present on the top and you will not require adding data again from scratch for being able to do so. You can switch from any chart style that is mentioned above without changing or retyping your data

5) Download, print, or share these resources.

Choose a file type for your download from the dropdown menu. Learn more about the download file kinds that are supported. Select the pages you want to download from the dropdown and click done if your design has several pages. To finish, click Download or Pay and download. After downloading you will be able to and share print your visualized data.
