How to create 3D heart frame in Canva ?

One of the beauties of Canva is that the more you explore it more you learn new elements, techniques, etc.

My curiosity for different design techniques keeps me engaged within Canva.

Recently I managed to create a 3D heart frame in Canva for one of my Denim designs projects. So before getting you into any further discussion, let me share the steps for this design so that you can create something similar for your designs. Don’t forget to remember me in your prayers if you learn something new this time 😊

Step 1- Find out any hollow heart shape from the elements section.

Step 2- Change the color of the heart into red or chose any desired color.

Step 3- Apply your suitable background color.

Once you apply the above three steps, You would see the below design on your canvas.

Step 4- Download this design in png/Jpeg format and upload it again.

Step 5- Go into the effect and apply the “remove background. If you are not using the pro version then you may not be able to see this option. You can avail 30 daysfree trial version of canva to see this option. You can not use remove.bg here because of some reason, you will learn in the next step.

Step 6- Now comes the most tricky part of this design. After removing the background, you need to use the restore brush option immediately. With the help of a restore brush, regain the outer heart portion only. Keep the inside part of the heart empty. YOUR HEART FRAME IS READY NOW.

Step 7- Use any suitable photo from the photo section and apply it to the background.

Step 8- Adjust your own created heart frame on the whole canvas.

Step 9- Remove the background of your selected photo. Here you can use remove.bg option.

Step 10- Now crop your photo (after background removal). Adjust it on the front side of the heart the way that some of the portions will be outside, some will remain inside. It will give 3D look.

Step 11-Reduce the transparency of the heart frame by 15 points. It will help to achieve a beautiful result with the background photo.

How to win one year Canva pro free subscription ?

I had joined the Canva Facebook group in Jun 2020 when this group had around 20K members. It is growing very fast, and today in Jan 2021, it is almost touching 50K members. By passing every day, this group is getting more popular. Every day we see many creative designs submitted by various Canva designers from different parts of the world. Many designers share design tips and tricks. Canva designs tutorials or link to the learning material is also available in this group.

One of the features of this group is that they organize a competition almost every month. From Jun 2020 till Jan 2021, I have seen Four/Five different design competitions under #Canvachallenge. The frequency of such challenges is getting high due to the addition of many new members daily.

Initially, their prize was “Full one-year Canva pro subscription” but later, they have changed it into three prizes.

The first place is getting a full one-year subscription. The second will get the same for six months. The third one will enjoy it for three months only.

When I had joined this group, I saw the competition related to stop motion videos. I have explained this technique in my article here. I could not participate in this challenge but I learned so many new things with this competition.

Then after a few weeks, I saw another competition that was to design a movie poster. I participated but could not win in the presence of some extraordinary designs.

I kept on trying and participated in the third competition that was for the 2021 card, this time my friends Kelechi and James, both are the heroes of this group, won the competition along with Jo-Ann P.

At the start of Jan, I saw Edy (Admin of Canva Design Circle) shared details for another competition that was to design the 2021 vision board. I again took part in this challenge as I never lose hope. Finally, in my third participation, I won the challenge with second prize. That was an achievement for me to stand second out of so many brilliant submissions. Such activities also help us to learn more and more and motivate us a lot towards our goals.

How to use Canva element Moroccan tiles in designs ?

Canva is full of beautiful and creative elements. On top of it, when you see liberty to use them with your pro account, you bring your designs to the next level where people ask you, how did you do it?

Recently I have come to know about the new element “Moroccan Tiles” through one of Diana Munoz posts on her Instagram account. She advised designers to use this element in different designs to give them a more standout look. I tried to give it a try, had some ideas, implemented those in my designs.

These were just a few examples. I believe creative people around can use this element in many different ways.

I have created a total of eight different designs using this element. I have shared these designs on the Facebook group “Canva design circle” and my Instagram account. I was literally over the moon when I saw feedback from Diana Munoz on my designs.

An important design factor here is that all these designs have only one tile design. So, you can imagine how much versatility this one element has in Canva.

Below are the tile designs you can search through the element section.

Let me share the design techniques for all these designs one by one. You can sell these designs on different websites. See below the mock-ups as well I have shared along with each design.

1) For the below design, You just need to reduce the size of your selected tile and arrange them horizontally with one skip one technique. Select any suitable background. Write your desire text in the center. 

2) Below designs have been created with the same technique as mentioned above, You just need to add elements like I added "Heart" with curve text in the first design and magnifying glass in the second one. 

3) For the below shared first design, I used emojis and applied the text effect "Lift". For the second one, I skipped empty spaces and added tiles in a row. Downloaded the slide and uploaded it again, reduced the transparency for this one slide. Then used the numbers frame for 2021 and added the same slide which I had uploaded, in each frame one by one. In the last step, I clicked on the image in each frame and increase its size equal to the main slide so that image in the frame matches with the same image in the background. 

4) For the below shared first design, I used the circle hallow frame, created six copies with different sizes, and adjusted them with each other together. Added the slide from the upload section as mentioned above in each frame. In the last step, I used the same technique mentioned above (Click on the image in each frame for equal size adjustments) to create symmetry in this circle design. Once you will create the first circle for this tile design, create copies and place them in six on one slide like below. 

For the second one, I just used the image in the background from the photo section and placed tiles with one skip one technique above.

5) For the below design I applied the below-mentioned adjustments to the image I uploaded earlier.

6) For the below shared first design, I applied a wobble effect on the first design and adjustments on the second design.

 

The main purpose behind sharing these designs was to get you familiarized with this element. I am sure this element would be helpful for your designs in the future.
