How to create Zoom In and Out effect in Videos using Canva ?

Zoom in or Zoom out effects can be created in videos while using Canva. You first need to understand the trick of the stop motion effect. The only difference in my video for zoom in and out is that I did not use any animation. I have added duplicate slides, changed the position of some elements in each slide, and adjusted the timing of each slide by 0.2 seconds.

Ronny is a great instructor of Canva designs. if you are new to Canva then I would strongly recommend his Udemy course. He is the master of Canva and let me assure you that after completion of this course, You will feel the same for yourself.

Before watching the below video, read the below points carefully.

  • First, add the required elements to your design. I have shown all the relevant keywords in this video for each element.
  • Group some elements wherever require in your design.
  • in my video, I grouped mouse pointer and a small line so that I can move them together.
  • Move the pointer slightly in each slide. You can use the option of arrow keys with shift button to move it pixel-wise for better results.
  • While moving from plus sign to negative sign to create zoom out effect, keep reducing the font size in each slide like I reduced 5 or 10 in each slide for text 2020.
  • Do the above two steps till fifteen slides but this is just for this design. For your designs, You need to follow these rules as per your requirement.
  • Now start moving the pointer on the lower bar from minus sign to plus and use the same trick for pointer and text 2021 as mentioned above.
  • On the last slide, I added the fireworks video with reduced transparency as shown in the image. I trimmed the video as well to reduce the overall length of the whole video.
  • Finally, save all the slides at once in MP4 format.

Run the video and see the magic 😊

How to create regular or 3D glitter text in Canva ?

One of my fellow designers on the Facebook group “Canva design circle” asked me how to make glitter fonts in Canva? Though I had seen a trick to create glitter text with frames in Canva on YouTube and shared the same but she was required to write with cursive text.

I thought to do some research about this technique in Canva. I figured out a couple of more options for this purpose. These would be quite interesting for you while designing anything for your new year's eve. I am sure adding glitter text with shine will make your design super cool and distinctive.

Step -1- First you need to select all relevant letter frames from the elements section of Canva. Place them all on your slide, positioned them with a tidy look so that these will look aligned. See the below image for your better understanding.

How to Create a reflection shadow in Canva?

Yes, you can easily create reflection shadows in Canva by following a few simple steps. Though this technique may not be fully workable for 3D or diagonal images but still with a little adjustment, you can give an eye-catching look to your designs. I have used the same technique in one of my tutorials for "Design flyer in Canva for event announcement".

Let' start with the steps...

Step 1- You first need to make sure that your image must be in PNG (Transparent) format with no background. If you have a pro account then you only need to click on the tab "Effects" and then by using the background removal option, You can easily remove the background. Otherwise, you can use remove. bg for this purpose separately.

Step 2- Upload your PNG file again in Canva.

Step 3- Make a copy of this image.

Step 4- Flip it vertically. Adjust it exactly under your master image.

Step 5- Reduce the transparency of copy up to 50% or more.

Step 6- This step is optional and required only in case you need to add a blur effect at bottom of your reflection. To add this effect, Go to elements, write the keyword "Blurr Dot". You will see a lot of blur effect options. Use any one of them. Use Filters or adjustments to change the color of this blur as per your background color requirement.

Step 7- This step is also optional and can be used only if you need to add some special effects to your reflection.  For this purpose, ( Go to elements- Select screen- Apply any suitable effect), I have used canvas effect for one of the designs to achieve a bricks look. You can see further details here. "Design social media ad for builder".

How to create a GIF in Canva ?

We can create GIFs (Graphical Interchange Format) in Canva

Find more details about this format here. These are a mix of static and animated images or elements. You can use them to express some feelings or to add more value to your social media posts. It attracts the attention of people in many ways.

In today's article, I will show the GIF which I have recently created in Canva. The most important part here is to observe the use of animated elements and color changes between the same designs on different slides. It's up to you to decide about the elements or color you need to keep static and for which you need to show the variation.

In my suggestion, You need to focus on the main parts of your design that needs to catch the immediate attention of your audience.

How to create a GIF in Canva?

Step 1- In the first step,  you need to finalize your design. Below is the design I created for GIF.

Before I move forward, let me tell you the elements I used for this design.

  • For background rays - Search the keyword "Swirl Icon" in the elements section. Apply it on top of the background color and reduce the transparency to 16
  • Write "animated doodles" for moving line under text "Burger" as well as under the main photo showing the direction towards "Order Now" which is our main focus point here.
  • For the main text, I have used the Font "Checkin Texture" and applied the text effect as per the below screenshot.
Tutorial 15 - How to create a GIF in Canva ?

  • For the dotted line, use the keyword "Doted outline" in the element section.
  • For shape under the "order now" button, Use the keyword "Oval gradient shape".

Step -2 - Once you create your master design, Save / Download it in GIF format.

If you want to add more variation in your design then play with colors of different elements in your design or add more animations. In this design, I created a second slide and changed the colors of the "swirl icon" and text "Order now" and save it in GIF. Keep the timing or each slide 1 or 2 seconds maximum.

Below is the final result.

Right now, Canva is not supporting item to item animation. You either need to use the separate animated element or need to animate your slide as a whole. We hope that canva will add this feature very soon in the future.
